ROMANIAN HOPEFUL DAVID COSMA CRISTOFOR ALREADY A TOP THREE F4 ROOKIE

David Cosma Cristofor made the most of his debut in Formula 4 in the Middle East F4 Championship! For his first race in a single-seater, the young Romanian hopeful confirmed the talent he has shown in karting in recent years. At the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, David finished P2 in the Rookie classification in Race 2.

At just 15 years of age (David Cosma Cristofor will turn 16 on 5th February 2025), the Romanian driver has decided to make the all-important switch from karting to single-seater racing.

“It was really the right time. I’ve gained a lot of experience in karting, I’ve become a better driver, and I’ve developed a champion’s mentality. I won a lot of titles in Romania, I won several WSK Promotion events as well as the Andrea Margutti Trophy, I finished 4th in the FIA Karting World Championship in OK-Junior, before having a brilliant first season in OK-Senior. I’m ready to set myself new goals in motorsport, starting with F4 this season,” said David.

From May to October 2025, David Cosma Cristofor will take part in the Italian F4 Championship, which has already highlighted a number of drivers who now make up the F1 World Championship starting grid. To prepare for this important competition in the career of a top-level international driver, the young Romanian has joined the PHM Racing / Akcel GP team for the Middle East F4 Championship. The Championship runs over five rounds from January to the end of February on the prestigious circuits of Yas Marina (Abu Dhabi), Dubai Autodrome and Lusail International in Qatar.

“I’m taking a lot of positives and pride from my official F4 debut. Right from Free Practice, the performance was there, with an excellent pace that I maintained throughout the weekend, improving with each session and each race. As expected, the two Qualifying sessions proved to be very important for the rest of the event. The three races were hotly contested, but I managed to get good starts, be consistent, make it to the finish each time and do a lot of overtaking. I learnt a lot and gained important experience for the rest of the season.”

This competitiveness, the points scored and this 2nd place in the Rookie classification in Race 2 after a magnificent comeback of 11 positions are obviously full of promise.

“I also owe this result to my team, PHM Racing with Akcel GP, and to all my partners whom I would like to thank sincerely: Miko Med, Miko Beauty Salon, Miko Dental, Urban Automobile, Crystal Properties, Black Fire, Kart Republic and Bell Racing and the Bucharest International School.”
